Sports / Athletic Injuries

Most professional and amateur sports teams have access to regular Chiropractic care for their injured athletes. Chiropractic is beneficial to professional, amateur, and weekend athletes, maximizing athletic performance and preventing and managing injuries. The growing reliance on chiropractic care among American professional sports teams has raised awareness about the many benefits of chiropractic.

We suggest regular maintenance chiropractic adjustments periodically, on an ongoing basis to maintain the stability of your spine, lessen the possibility of degenerative changes occurring, and keep you functioning at your optimum level.

We offer rehabilitation for sports injuries

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental traction tables gently help reestablish the normal ranges of the body’s spine. They also help facilitate muscle relaxation and reduce muscle spasms. It has been shown that use of an intersegmental traction table greatly accelerates recovery progress from a back injury. Traction mobilizes the spinal column while simultaneously and gently stretching ligaments and muscle; increasing blood flow and oxygen to discs, ligaments, and muscles; and improving balance, strength and mobility.

Electric Muscle Stimulation

This uses electrical currents to reduce pain and muscle spasms. It feels like a gentle tingling sensation on the skin. Electric muscle stimulation is safe and very effective for re-educating muscles and their function.

Physical Rehabilitation

Doholis Chiropractic utilizes rehabilitation to help patients recover from acute and chronic injuries with conditions involving the spine and extremities. Our physical rehab focuses on improving range of motion along with stretching and strengthening muscles. Importance is based on stabilizing the injured areas, whether of an extremity or the spine, utilizing core stretching and strengthening exercises, which will be specific and tailored to your particular condition(s).

Muscle Therapy

Muscle therapy helps reduce muscle tension and inflammation. It also relieves pain and promotes positive healing circulation, flushing toxins out of your system. Although we do not have a full-time massage therapist on staff, we do have competent massage therapists available for referral in coordination with your chiropractic care. Massage therapy and chiropractic treatment work hand in hand together.

I’m an active 50-year-old, and when back pain interfered with my running last year, I went to Dr. Doholis. He used a combination of adjustment and Activator Method® treatments to put my pelvis and lower back where they should be—and gave me tips to help me keep running. I’m still running; I just completed my fifth half-marathon!
